Since I have been making homemade Blue Cheese Salad Dressings I have
gotten in the habit and find I have the ingredients readily available to
make just about any dressing. It is easy and fast to make and the taste
is so much better. Keep some cheese on hand because once you make your
own you will never go back to buying a jar at the supermarket again.
Ingredients:
8 oz crumbled cheese
1/2 cup buttermilk
1/3 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup sour cream
1 Tbl white wine vinegar
1 tsp dry mustard
Salt to taste
In
a medium bowl, use a fork to work the cheese into small crumbly bits.
Work in buttermilk until it is as smooth as possible. Stir in
mayonnaise, sour cream, vinegar, and mustard until well blended. Add
salt to taste if needed. Serve after 4 hours for flavors to blend. Will
keep for one week in the refrigerator.
Ingredients:
1 tsp Dijon mustard
1 clove garlic, pressed
1 Tbl white corn syrup
1/3 cup cider vinegar
2/3 cup olive oil
2 Tbl crumbled cheese
Salt to taste
Directions:
Blend
together the first four ingredients in a medium bowl. Add olive oil
slowly while beating with a wire whisk. Stir in the crumbled cheese.
Serve after 4 hours for flavors to blend. This dressing will keep a
little longer than a week in the refrigerator.
Tip:Depending on how salty the cheese is, you may not need to add any salt to these dressings. I prefer mine with more salt so I always add a little.
